Snow Blower Alert
There is NO benefit to use your hand to free a stuck snow blower or lawn mower. It is often a simple reflex to just stick your hand into the stuck machine. Remember, if it is stuck, there are additional turns left to complete once it is freed. Use a broom stick or other inanimate device to force the snow or leaves out of the chute so the blower motor and blades will be free to spin. With every snow storm, and throughout the summer many snow blower and lawn mower hand injuries commonly present in the emergency department of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. At all times we have a certified HAND SURGERY specialist covering our practice and the emergency department for such emergencies.
